KSU t shirt quilt

Hello!
Well I'm up to new things again! Years ago, I went through all of my old t shirts with the plan to get rid of some. After going through them, I decided I would make t shirt quilts/blankets out of them and wouldn't get rid of them after all!
Well, that was after I had my 2nd kid, so I got a little busy taking care of my kids and didn't get around to them... until now! I had already started off one of my t shirt quilts when I lost motivation/got ready busy with the kids. So I have a Sonic themed blanket in the works, but after starting that one, decided I could handle not messing up my favorite t shirts, from college! I was worried that I would mess them up, cut too much, stitch them incorrectly, or something would go wrong. After making the first one out of my Sonic shirts that I wouldn't really mind that I messed up, I knew I could do it!
So I started cutting my KSU shirts into a size that wouldn't chop any of the designs off. After I cut the biggest designed shirt, I used that as a stencil for the other shirts so they would all be the same size and stitch together neatly. Then I set them up how I wanted them on the floor and safety pinned them together. After that, I used my sewing machine to sew the right side together and I had done it!
The next step was to make a backing for the blanket. My best friend gave me all her extra jeans, so I decided to use them! I had never made something out of denim before, so it was quite the learning curve! There were many things I would do differently next time, but in the interest of time, this was the easiest option. I left most of the legs alone and just separated the front and back and cut off the waist and zippers. This made very interesting curves to try to match together, and a lot of unnecessary overlaps. Next time I will just cut into even pieces and get a basic stencil and have a lot less trouble making a whole rectangle without gaps or overlaps.

Here is the beginning steps of my KSU project:

Here is my finished project, what I'm calling my pride and joy!

Bible cases, purses and coasters!

Hey! It's been a while since I have posted, so I thought I'd fill you in on what I've been up to! Well, the friend of mine, that I have done craft shows with before, did one at a church last year and it was just a perfect fit! It was smaller then the only other craft show I have done, and my friend was much more successful, so I thought I might be too! This has motivated me to crochet something differently... Bible cases! Or book cases, so you can use whatever you have! They have a handle or handles and a fastening strap!

After making them, I realized how long they take, so in between making one, I started making other things: purses, coasters, even flowers to decorate the other items! Here are some examples!

Headbands!

Well the kids changed my plans again! Initially the kids were who got me making things in the first place, now I've changed my mind about what I "would make" and what I wouldn't! I tried to be unique and only make things that weren't on Pinterest 700 times, but my kid changed my mind! I'm not giving up on the unique items, but I'm adding some not so unique ideas and just making my different then others! My daughter asked for a headband for recess, so she chose her colors, and voila, another friend loved it and wanted one! It continues to surprise me what is not settled and what it just kind of liked. Here are my newest creations... Headbands!

Crochet Viking hats!

Well I achieved another unexpected success! I was letting a friend know about creating my crochet business and she asked if I could make Viking hats! Since I'm just getting started, most things people ask for are new for me, but I'm always willing, so I agreed! The way I learned, and am still learning how to crochet is through YouTube, so it usually takes a while to find the right tutorial for the client's needs. After some trial and error, I was on my way, I found double crochet works better for hats and the horns need to be single crochet. After making those,  I just double crocheted some beards, and made some braids and voila!!!

Big things!

There are big things in my future! I have excitedly decided to start selling the items I'm making! At first it was fun, now it is necessary to keeping me calm and centered! It is my moment to chill, create and make something I can be proud of and add to my accomplishments for the day! I am the make and list and check it off person, and when I can create and finish an item or two each day, it just makes me smile! Keeping "the little ones alive" is always my goal for the day but when I even get some projects done, it's that much more satisfying! School is about to start so I'm anticipating some actual adult only crochet time! Which will be a first for me and so I am very excited and hopeful to be super productive during that time!

Another exciting event that I wanted to share was a craft fair! I am going to join a friend selling items at my first craft fair! She's selling some beautiful fine art and I will be selling crocheted water bottle holders, coffee cup coozies and sunglass cases! I am so excited to start this endeavor that just started as a hobby, that is now a true love and passion!

The last pictures on here are little baskets that I plan on using for my business cards at the craft fair! I thought I'd need something to put cards in and what better way to display my creations than MAKE a basket!
